Tedros Tesfay
Senior Hydrogeologist
Dr. Tedros Tesfay holds over 13 years of consulting experience as a hydrogeologist/hydrogeochemist solving client’s complex water resources and water quality problems. Leveraging his broad educational background and work experience in hydrogeology, geochemistry, and subsurface lithologic characterisation, he has supported various projects throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, Middle East, and Africa. Tedros has a strong commitment to social and community services.
Tedros’ hydrogeology experience includes groundwater flow and solute transport modelling (MODFLOW), preparing monitoring programmes (installing wells, logging, sampling, and testing), aquifer testing, synthesises lithological and geophysical data to identify highly conductive and naturally confining units, and builds 2D and 3D geologic models that substantiate domain discretisation for groundwater flow modelling, etc.
As a geochemist, he conducts baseline studies, geochemical mine waste (ARD/ML) characterisations, evaluates pit lake water quality and its impact on adjoining water resources, develops geochemical modelling (PHREEQC/PHT3D) simulations to understand the fate and transport of contaminants, etc.
He has developed a Hydrogeochemical Trend Analysis (HGTA) method that independently verifies hydraulic connectivity between surface water-groundwater regimes or distinct aquifer units. Understanding distinct hydrogeological/geochemical flowlines helps to build a sound conceptual site model (CSM) and guides appropriate site-specific corrective actions. -
Stan Flagel
Principal Scientist
Stan Flagel has over 23 years of experience as a field geologist, hydrogeologist, and project manager. He has planned and overseen investigations at a range of sites including airports, mineral prospects and mines, active oil fields, refineries, wood treating facilities, railroad yards, military installations, and industrial properties in Alaska, California, Colorado, Kansas, and Wyoming. He has led numerous site characterisations requiring innovative strategies for acquiring soil, surface water, and groundwater data. Stan has experience analysing large complex dataset in support of site characterisation, risk assessment, remediation, property transfer, and regulatory closure. He is strong technical writer and has prepared and edited RCRA and CERCLA investigation work plans and investigation reports, technical memorandums, and CERCLA Purposed Plans and Records of Decision. Stan has more than 14 years of experience working in Alaska and has good working relationships with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) and Region 10 EPA. In addition, Stan has represented clients in meeting with State and Federal regulators, and in public forums. He has also provided clients with litigation support as a fact witness, testifying at both depositions and in court.

Mark Trevor
Principal Geologist
Mark is a Professional Geologist in California, USA, with over 18 years of experience in the environmental field, ranging from watershed assessment for the timber industry, to remedial oversight and project management on contaminated soil and groundwater sites for industrial, commercial and residential clients.
He has conducted technical environmental and hydrogeologic investigations including seep detection and management, drilling and test-pitting for Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) reporting, and remediation oversight and documentation. Mark has also assumed project management responsibilities for various PCE, VOC and petroleum hydrocarbon release sites in Northern California; conducted hydrogeologic investigations for landfill and mining clients; overseen naturally-occurring asbestos (NOA) remediation for a school sites and overseen field operations for several large soil and groundwater remediation projects.
Among his current projects, Mark manages hydrogeologic operations for a Class I hazardous waste leachate extraction well field and provides evaluations for the short and long term maintenance of the site.

Ian Mitchell
Technical Director
Ian is a Hydrogeology Specialist with over 35 years of experience in environmental and geological investigations, including 27 years as a contaminant hydrogeologist. He has expertise in analysis and modelling of groundwater flow and multi-phase contaminant transport in saturated and unsaturated systems, geochemistry, groundwater supply, and fractured bedrock. He has worked throughout Canada including permafrost environments, in Europe, Australia and the US. He is a Professional Geoscientist in BC and AB, a Contaminated Sites Approved Professional in BC and a member of the Yukon Government Hydrogeology Assessment External Review Roster. He is the Technical Director for hydrogeology and hydrology services at SLR Consulting (Canada) Ltd.
